Peer, you're lying! are the famous words of Peer's mother which open Henrik Ibsen's play Peer Gynt. It had its world premiere in Oslo in 1867, Ibsen having written most of the text during his stay in Italy, shortly after leaving Norway. The protagonist of the five-act play is the antihero Peer: a liar, an adventurer, a romantic, the son of the once rich and highly regarded merchant Jon Gynt, who became a drunk and lost all his money, leaving Peer and his mother in poverty. In his many years of exile on the shores of Morocco and in the Egyptian desert, Peer meets various characters who are a lot like him. From a businessman who became rich in America through the slave trade, Peer turns into the king of fools. When he finally returns to his homeland as an old man, he must face everything that he failed to say or do. The famous classical work of world dramatic literature Peer Gynt is directed by the renowned Norwegian director Erik Ulfsby. The staging is part of the European Theatre Lab: Drama Goes Digital project, with the implementation of innovative audio-technology which will be developed in collaboration with experts in the field of electroacoustics.

Norwegian director Erik Ulfsby has brought a visually impressive and scenographically spectacular interpretation of this untypical text by Ibsen to the CNT in Zagreb. Focusing on innovation and digital technology he searches for an answer to the question what it means to be distinctive.— Tportal
Peer Gynt at the CNT- an outstanding theatrical event. Rarely do we have an opportunity to experience such sophisticatedly directed plays in Croatia.— Jutarnji list
