Handle with Care by Ontroerend Goed is a unique experience of theatre reduced to its core. There are no actors, technicians, or elaborate set designs—just a box and the audience. The box is delivered to the theatre with clear instructions. On the night of the performance, the audience gathers, someone opens the box, and the show begins. The audience takes control, choosing how to interact with the contents—letters, tasks, and objects—creating an unrepeatable, shared experience. There are no wrong choices. Each performance is fleeting and deeply personal. The performance is envisaged so all the needed objects are transferred in a single box. That concept allows it to travel to remote and atypical venues. Like many other works by Ontroerend Goed, Handle with Care blends play and performance, inviting reflection on time and togetherness. Once used, the box decays, never to be reused.
