Following a series of acclaimed performances in Croatia and abroad, violinist Eva Mach and pianist Petra Gilming are embarking on a major concert tour of China this autumn, giving eight concerts in some of the country’s largest cities. Ahead of their international tour, Zagreb audiences will have the opportunity to hear the programme with which the two musicians will introduce themselves to Chinese audiences.
For many years, Eva Mach and Petra Gilming have cultivated an artistic partnership emerging from a shared musical sensibility, interpretive maturity, and mutual trust. Their performances are distinguished by expressive freedom, technical skill, and natural musicality, and critics have described them as “perfectly attuned musicians” whose performances captivate with their “passion, energy, and musicality.”
Titled The Silk Road, this concert symbolically connects the European musical tradition with its new journey towards the east. From the refined miniatures of Fritz Kreisler and Edvard Grieg’s monumental Sonata in C minor, through lyrical works by Johannes Brahms, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and José de Monasterio, to the brilliant pages of Pablo de Sarasate, the programme unfolds a diverse musical landscape intertwining elegance, lyricism, temperament, and virtuosity.
