As part of the fourth International Zagreb Opera Festival, taking place from 11 to 20 September 2026, the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb continues to develop programmes that bring opera closer to diverse audiences, reaffirming its commitment to openness, accessibility, and inclusion.
As part of the festival, the Opera 65+ programme will be presented for residents of nursing homes. Members of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb's Opera Studio and scholarship recipients will perform specially curated concert programmes in residential care homes, bringing opera directly to audiences who are not always able to attend performances at the theatre.
The first concert will take place on 15 September 2026 at 5 p.m. at the Centar Residential Care Home, while the second will be held on 16 September 2026 at 5 p.m. at the Medveščak Residential Care Home.
Opera 65+ forms part of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb's ongoing efforts to present artistic programmes beyond the walls of the theatre and to create opportunities for artists and audiences to meet within their own communities. Through performances by emerging opera artists, residents will enjoy a direct encounter with live music and share in the experience of carefully selected operatic and concert repertoire, highlighting the important social role of culture and the arts in fostering a more connected and inclusive community.
