The Dunja Vejzović Music Centre was established at the initiative of this celebrated Croatian opera singer and musician with the aim of promoting opera and musical culture, while placing particular emphasis on supporting the development of young talented singers and musicians. Conceived as an open meeting place for artists, audiences, and new generations of musicians, the Centre will organise concerts, exhibitions, workshops, masterclasses, seminars, memorial programmes, and other cultural events. The research, documentation, digitisation, and publication of materials related to opera, as well as the development of partnerships with cultural, artistic, educational, and academic institutions in Croatia and abroad will be an important part of the Centre’s activities.
At the same time, the Music Centre will be dedicated to preserving the artistic and pedagogical legacy of Dunja Vejzović. It will house, catalogue, and present her extensive legacy, which was recently granted the status of protected cultural heritage. An exhibition of posters, photographs, costumes, and other artefacts documenting Dunja Vejzović’s appearances on the world’s leading opera stages, as well as her contribution to music education and the development of young singers and musicians, is currently in preparation. The Centre will also provide access to a valuable collection of audio and video recordings documenting the remarkable artistic and pedagogical career of this distinguished musician.
The inaugural concert of the Dunja Vejzović Music Centre is a charity event, bringing together some of Croatia’s most distinguished opera artists, who perform at the world’s leading opera houses, alongside outstanding representatives of the new generation of the Croatian opera scene. All soloists, as well as the conductor, are donating their performances in support of the establishment and future activities of the Dunja Vejzović Music Centre.
The concert will feature Diana Haller, Dora Jana Klarić, Evelin Novak, Marie-Pierre Roy, Dubravka Šeparović Mušović, Tomislav Jukić, Goran Jurić, and Krešimir Stražanac, accompanied by the Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Valentin Egel.
We extend our special thanks to the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb and Croatian Radiotelevision for their generous support in making this concert possible.
The evening’s programme presents a selection of some of the finest opera arias, duets, and orchestral excerpts from works by Verdi, Bellini, Donizetti, Strauss, Gotovac, Wagner, Dvořák, Delibes, Bizet, Rossini, and Offenbach.
In addition to purchasing tickets for the inaugural concert, those who wish to support the development of the Dunja Vejzović Music Centre are warmly invited to make a personal donation.
