Theatre Breakfast Ahead of the Premiere of ‘Tannhäuser’ Brings Together Audiences and Artists at the CNT in ZagrebOpera — 11. May 2026.
A Theatre Breakfast was held in the foyer of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb ahead of the premiere of Wagner’s opera Tannhäuser, which will receive its premiere performance on Friday, 15 May 2026, on the stage of the CNT in Zagreb.
The new production of Tannhäuser marks the return of this major Wagner work to the repertoire of the Zagreb Opera, almost a century after its last staging.
The meeting between the audience, the artists and the creative team was dedicated to presenting this major operatic production and to discussing the themes Wagner’s work continues to raise today: the relationship between the artist and society, the freedom of artistic creation, and the position of art within the contemporary world.
The artistic process, the directorial concept and the musical interpretation were discussed by soloists Evelin Novak, Eric Laporte and Ljubomir Puškarić, conductor Srba Dinić and director Frank Van Laecke, moderated by Zrinka Matić.
On this occasion, the audience also had the opportunity to enjoy a musical programme featuring excerpts from Tannhäuser. The programme included Tannhäuser’s aria Dir töne Lob from Act I performed by Eric Laporte, Elisabeth’s aria Dich, teure Halle from Act II performed by Evelin Novak, and Wolfram’s aria Blick ich umher from Act II performed by Ljubomir Puškarić, accompanied on the piano by Darijan Ivezić.
