Dr. Iva Hraste Sočo, General Manager of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, paid an official visit to Mallorca, where she was received at the headquarters of the Mallorca Council by its President, Llorenç Galmés, together with the First Vice-President and Councillor for Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca. The meeting was organised at the initiative of Miquel Martorell, Director of Teatre Principal de Palma, and was also attended by Mario Gigović, Director of the Creative Production Office of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb.

The meeting reaffirmed the excellent relationship between the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb and Teatre Principal de Palma, while opening up new opportunities for collaboration in the fields of opera, international co-productions, and European cultural projects.

The partnership between the two institutions has been ongoing for several years through the exchange of opera productions, and several new joint initiatives were presented during the meeting.

Discussions also focused on joint participation in European projects and the continuation of cooperation within Opera Europa, where Dr. Iva Hraste Sočo serves as Vice-President, while Teatre Principal de Palma is one of its active members.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of cultural ties between the Croatian and Spanish cultural spheres. In recent years, the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb has been actively developing partnerships with Spanish theatre and opera institutions, and its collaboration with Teatre Principal de Palma stands out as one of the most successful examples of such international exchange.

Dr. Iva Hraste Sočo also introduced the hosts to the Zagreb Opera Festival, an international project bringing together leading European opera houses and artists, and invited representatives of Mallorca to participate in future editions of the festival.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Teatre Principal de Palma, an institution that shares our commitment to artistic excellence, international exchange, and European values. We are especially pleased that this partnership further strengthens the cultural ties between Croatia and Spain while helping to develop a strong network of Mediterranean theatres connected by a shared cultural heritage, openness to contemporary artistic creation, and a European outlook. At a time when international cooperation is more important than ever, partnerships such as this create new opportunities for artists and audiences alike and pave the way for future joint projects,” said Dr. Iva Hraste Sočo, General Manager of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb.

The Zagreb delegation also attended a performance of Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi, with which Teatre Principal de Palma concluded its current opera season. The role of the Duke of Mantua was performed by Filip Filipović, a soloist of the Opera of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb.
