Ovations for the magic opening night of ballet Peer GyntBallet — 01. April 2023.
The audience on the opening night of ballet Peer Gynt choreographed by Edward Clug after the drama of the Norwegian writer Henrik Ibsen to the music of Edvard Grieg rewarded the dancers with ovations, bravos and long applause. The conductor was Simon Robinson, set designer Marko Japelj, costume designer Leo Kulaš and lighting designer Tomaž Premzl.
Ballet Peer Gynt had its world premiere seven years ago in Maribor and very soon became one of the most performed ballets in Europe. After Vienna, Zürich, Riga, Dortmund and Warsaw, it was finally staged in Zagreb.
Takuya Sumitomo appeared in the title role and the cast was: Guilherme Gameiro Alves (The Deer), Atina Tanović (Mother), Natalia Kosovac (Solveig), Miruna Miciu (Ingrid), Tomislav Petranović (Death), Lucija Radić (Woman in Green), Taiguara Goulart (Aslak), Pavel Savin (Mads Moen), Rieka Suzuki (Anitra), Siniša Bosnar (Doctor Begriffenfeldt), Ivančica Alajbeg, Tihana Trupeljak Bujanić and Dora Blaić as three mountain women, Domagoj Vrbljanin (King of the Trolls) and Rizumu Tanaka (Rabbit). The five couples were: Mario Diligente, Drew Jackson, Adam Harris, Simon Yoshida, Arnau Velasquez Rodrigez, Anamarija Marković, Mutsumi Matsuhisa, Ozana Mirković Blokar, Helena Troha and Saya Ikegami. The trolls were Mario Diligente, Hyuma Gokan, Adam Harris, Drew Jackson, Kornel Palinko, Balint Rauscher, Arnau Velazquez Rodrigez, Simon Yoshida and Yuho Yoshioka. In the scene of Marocco were Dora Blaić, Saya Ikegami, Cristiana Rotolo, Anamarija Marković, Mutsumi Matsuhisa, Ozana Mirković Blokar, Lada Rora, Leda Šeparović, Helena Troha, Mario Diligente, Adam Harris, Drew Jackson, Balint Rauscher, Simon Yoshida, Arnau Velazquez Rodrigez, Yuho Yoshioka, Saya Ikegami, Mutsumi Matsuhisa, Ozana Mirković Blokar, Lada Rora, Cristiana Rotolo, Valentina Štrok and Helena Troha. The four lunatics were Lucija Radić, Valentina Štrok, Simon Yoshida, Mario Diligente and in the madhouse scene were: Dora Blaić, Saya Ikegami, Mutsumi Matsuhisa, Anamarija Marković, Ozana Mirković Blokar, Lada Rora, Leda Šeparović, Rizumu Tanaka, Helena Troha, Tihana Trupeljak Bujanić, Petra Vargović Stanciu, Hyuma Gokan, Adam Harris, Drew Jackson, Ovidiu Muscalu, Balint Rauscher, Pavel Savin, Yuho Yoshioka, Arnau Velasquez Rodrigez and Vid Vugrinec.
