The CNT in Zagreb Once Again Brings the Magic of "The Nutcracker" to the City with a Free Outdoor ScreeningBallet — 28. October 2026.
The Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb is inviting the public to enjoy a special festive experience. On Saturday, 19 December, at 7.30 pm, a free screening of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker will be shown on a large outdoor screen on Republic of Croatia Square.
This timeless ballet fairy tale will once again step beyond the walls of the Theatre to become part of Zagreb’s pre-Christmas atmosphere, giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy one of the best-known ballet productions, even if they were unable to obtain tickets for performances inside the Theatre.
In its fourth consecutive year, the outdoor screening will once again allow audiences to experience on the big screen the splendour of the new production of The Nutcracker, which premiered last season in Rudolf Nureyev’s celebrated version, based on the choreography of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.
The splendid set design, impressive ensemble scenes and enchanting music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky create a distinctive theatrical experience that has become an essential part of the festive season. The screening will bring the beauty of this Christmas classic to residents and visitors alike, in the heart of Zagreb’s Advent celebrations.
