Theatre Breakfast – Insight into the premiere of drama Crime and PunishmentDrama — 18. March 2025.
On Monday, March 17, 2025 at 11.30 a.m. the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb will offer the fourth Theatre Breakfast on the occasion of the opening night of Crime and Punishment directed by Jernej Lorenci in its Foyer.
The Theatre Breakfast organised by the CNT Drama will be led for the first time by Ivana Bodrožić, one of the most respected Croatian writers.
The interactive program together with the encounters of our audience and theatre artists and experts in the field of performative arts, offers an expanded introduction to the new repertoire titles, taking into consideration diverse standpoints and experiences that complement the sole act of watching a performance. In a relaxed atmosphere, along a discussion, coffee and snacks, the Theatre Breakfast in the CNT Foyer gathers authors of performances, practitioners, theoreticians and connoisseurs of the topics that are being discussed with the inclusion of the spectators.
In uncertain times that are overwhelmed with radical ideas, the polarization of the society is unavoidable. In this world that glorifies raw supremacy, exploitation and accumulation of material wealth, it seems that human dignity is pushed to the margins of public interest. The individual is left alone to get through the fear and despair, injustice and cruel everyday life in pursuit of little hope. Always up-to-date, one of the central works of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky that deals with the anatomy of human nature brings into the light our contradictions, weaknesses, imperfections of social structures, the relationship of the causes and consequences and pressures and cracking.
We shall talk with our guests, Nataša Govedić, theatrologist and writer, Boris Jokić, psychologist and scientist from the Institute for Social Research and with Ivo Alebić, Russian expert and artistic collaborator in the performance about the challenges of theatrical interpretation of the novel published in 1866, about the artistic creative process of the performance, the personal and social and about everything that is up-to-date but always universal, that touches us the most.
