The string quartet of the CNT in Zagreb played at the Cairo Opera House and the Arabic Music Institute for the first time

The quartet members that appeared before the Egyptian audience were Vlatka Peljhan, violin, Mislav Pavlin, violin, Natalia Anikeeva, viola and Adam Chelfi, violoncello. They played works by Joseph Haydn, Dmitry Shostakovich and the Croatian composer Ivan Josip Skender.
The string quartet is a part of the long tradition of chamber playing within the Orchestra of the CNT in Zagreb founded on continuous artistic and professional curiosity of many generations of its members. Many members of the Orchestra along taking part in numerous opera and ballet productions and cycles of chamber music at the CNT in Zagreb, perform outside the theatre in chamber ensembles as an integral part of their professional work, thus directly contributing to the improvement of quality of their home ensemble. 

The guest concert of our artists in Egypt is part of the cooperation and exchange in the area of art, music and stage works between the CNT in Zagreb and the Cairo Opera House. We are looking forward to our future exchanges of works of cultural heritage but also of those of contemporary expression that will for sure additionally strengthen diplomatic relations between our countries, said the general manager of the CNT in Zagreb, Iva Hraste Sočo.

Cairo Opera House is situated in Egypt's capital and has a rich performative history and presents a significant artistic centre in Egypt and the wider area of the Middle East. The Cairo Opera House often cooperates with international artists, ensembles and institutions, which gives this cultural institution a significant place in the global artistic community.
