CNT Drama Delights Audience in MaltaDrama — 21. April 2026.
Yesterday, 20 April 2026, the production Always Be Like a Dragon by Espi Tomičić, directed by Olja Lozica and performed by the CNT Drama, was presented at the Manoel Theatre in Valletta.
The production was met with an exceptionally warm reception, with the audience rewarding the ensemble with warm and sustained applause, once again affirming the universality of its theme and the strength of contemporary Croatian drama in an international context.
The guest performance was realised as part of the European initiative DoSEL (Drama of Smaller European Languages), which aims to increase the visibility and international presence of dramatic texts in smaller European languages.
The project brings together leading theatre institutions and organisations across Europe, fostering exchange, co-productions and guest performances, as well as long-term collaboration among its partners.
The production features members of the CNT Drama ensemble in Zagreb, including Vlasta Ramljak, Olga Pakalović, Dora Lipovčan, Lana Barić, Luka Dragić, Dušan Bućan, Filip Vidović, Marin Stević and Ivan Grlić, including guest musicians Sara Renar and Dimitrije Simović.
Dr Iva Hraste Sočo, General Manager and Artistic Director of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, emphasised the importance of such guest performances:
“The performances abroad are essential for the visibility of Croatian culture and contemporary drama. Participation in projects such as DoSEL allows us not only to present our artistic work, but also to take an active role in the European cultural space through the exchange of ideas, aesthetics and experiences. We are especially pleased to have had the opportunity to perform at the Manoel Theatre for the first time, a venue of exceptional historical and cultural significance.”
