Children's opera Brundibár on the occasion of the 80th death anniversary of Lea DeutschOpera — 20. September 2023.

Children's opera Brundibár of the Jewish Czech composer Hans Krás directed by Krešimir Dolenčić and Kristina Grubiša was performed on the CNT stage.

More than 1400 pupils from Zagreb, Kutina and Gundinac attended the performance that was given on the occasion of the 80th death anniversary of Lea Deutsch, the Croatian actress of Jewish origin who died as a child in May 1943 after being deported to the concentration camp Auschwitz. Lea was only 16 when her life was tragically ended during the transportation of Jews toward the concentration camp.

The world opening night was on January 27, 2018, on the Holocaust Remembrance Day held in front of the first Croatian Oil factory in Zagreb in the organisation of the Centre for Promoting Tolerance and Holocaust Remembrance. The music was played by the Zagreb Philharmonic and the actors and singers were members of the Children's Choir Zvjezdice led by Zdravko Šljivac, Božidar Peričić and Zoran Pribičević.

The opera was performed in the organisation of the Centre for Promoting Tolerance and Holocaust Remembrance, Festival of contemporary Jewish film in partnership with the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb.
