The soloist of the Opera of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb Lana Kos marked her 20th artistic anniversary with opera Tosca by Giacomo Puccini and Pier Giorgio Morandi as the honorary chief conductor.

Lana Kos was born in 1984 in Varaždin and she studied singing at the Academy of Music in Zagreb. Lana Kos had her debut at the age of 17 at the CNT in Zagreb with the role of the Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute.  Due to her specific voice timbre, three-octave vocal range and confidence in singing, her great singing potential was immediately noticed and recognised by the great Mstislav Rostropovich who engaged her for the role of Natasha Rostova in Sergei Prokofiev's opera War and Peace at the Bolshoi in Moscow.

She continued perfecting her vocal technique with Ludmila Ivanova. In 2006, she became the youngest engaged soloist in the history of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich where she sang several roles with prominent world conductors such as Kent Nagano, Marco Armiliato, Nicola Luisotti, Zubin Mehta, Fabio Luisi, Kirill Petrenko, Daniele Gatti and many others. In 2011, for the title role in Donizetti's opera Lucía di Lammermoor of the CNT Ivan noble Zajc in Rijeka she was granted the Croatian Theatre Arts' award. Her international career was launched in 2011 with the role of Violetta Valéry that she sang at the Festival Arena di Verona with Carlo Rizzi as conductor and in the stage direction of the renowned Argentinian director Hugo de Ana. She sang the same role also in Teatro Massimo in Palermo in the stage direction of Henning Brockhaus and with Bruno Bartoletti as conductor. The same year she appeared in the role of Micaëla at the Israeli festival in Masada directed by Giancarlo del Monaco and with Daniel Oren as conductor. She also sang the title role in opera Manon Lescaut by Giacomo Puccini in the Greek State Opera in Athens.

She also appeared in the role of Desdemona at the Opera in Beijing in 2013, the role of Verdi's Violetta she sang in Tel Aviv and at the Arena di Verona and the Chinese city of Guangzhou in the production of Covent Garden with Daniel Oren as conductor. In 2014, she sang the role of Luisa Miller by Giuseppe Verdi in Lausanne and with the famous baritone Leo Nucci and Jamesa Conlon as conductor, she sang at Teatro Real in Madrid. She sang Desdemona at Teatro Massimo in Palermo with maestro Renato Palumba, Micaëla at São Paulo in Brazil and Giulietta in Arena di Verona. The same year she appeared at the closing concert of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival and in 2015 she sang the role of Desdemona in São Paulo and the role of Violetta at the Royal Swedish Opera.

At the Avenches Opera Festival she appeared in the role of Rosina in The Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini, in Palermo in La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini in the role of Musette and in the role of Mimi in Opera Naples in Florida. In 2016 she sang the role of Elvira in Ernani by G. Verdi at the CNT in Split and for this creation she was granted the Croatian Theatre Arts' Award. In Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi in Trieste, she sang Mimì in La Bohème, and in Teatro lirico di Cagliari the role of Violetta. In 2017, she sang for the first time two roles Marguerite in Faust by Charles Gounod in the City Opera in Vilnius and Liù in Turandot by Giacomo Puccini in Macau, China. The following year she sang for the first time the role of Leonora in Verdi's Il Trovatore at the Seoul Arts Center. The same year she sang the same role of Leonora at the Opera in Graz and in Bern. At the Torre del Lago Puccini Festival she sang the role of Musette in La Bohème and the role of Liù in Turandot. She sang the same role at the Festival Savonlinn in Finland as well. Her first appearance at the legendary Opera San Carlo in Naples was in the role of Mimì in La Bohème, and as Juliette in Gounod's opera Roméo et Juliette in Düsseldorf. She repeated her successful appearances at the Arena di Verona as Violetta in La Traviata and Micaëla in Carmen.

She sang the role of Cio-Cio San in Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini in Bern and Violetta in Teatro Real Madrid. At the end of 2022 she sang in Verdi's Requiem with the legendary Plácido Domingo as conductor and for the third time she was granted the Croatian Theatre Arts' Award for the role of  Magda De Civry in La Rondine by Giacomo Puccini.
Season 2022/23 brings her the role of Tosca which she sang for the first time at the CNT in Zagreb, her home theatre and had appearances in Teatro Massimo Bellini Catania as Violetta Valéry in La Traviata and Desdemona in Othello, Leonora in Il Trovatore in Opera in Japan, Manon Lescaut in Taiwan Opera and Liu in Turandot at the Taormina Opera festival. She sang the role of Fidelia in Puccini's opera Edgar at the Opera Coruna. For the opening of the 2023/2024 season, she will appear in the role of Manon Lescaut at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Italy.
