Nenni Delmestre although born in Split, studied in the States and graduated communication technology at the Florida International University in Miami in 1981 and theatre direction in 1984 with great distinction and awards of the dean. She returned to Split where she began directing and then worked all over Croatia and in Slovenia, Venezuela, Mexico, Italy and Macedonia. Her first performances in Split mark a new wave in its theatre life. She gave great attention to contemporary texts of world drama literature and world opening nights of contemporary Croatian authors. She cooperated with all four Croatian national theatres, but also other city theatres and festivals. She translated drama texts from English, Spanish and Italian languages and published essays about the theatre in Croatia and abroad. She was the house stage director of the CNT in Split and acting director of the Drama between 2002 and 2004. She directed more than 80 performances which were performed at Croatian and international festivals where they were granted awards. In 2016 she received the Order of Danica Hrvatska with the image of Marko Marulić for exceptional contributions in culture. Her first appearance in the Drama of the CNT in Zagreb was in 1996 when she staged Ibsen's Hedda Gabler.
