STAGES Forum 2023 – artistic program, workshops and lectures on the topic of sustainability in cultureFrom the theatre — 18. November 2023.
Zagreb STAGES Forum 2023: When we all fall asleep at COP28 where do we go? is scheduled for November 20 and 21, 2023 at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb. This ambitious theatre experiment that explores how the cultural sector deals with the concept of sustainability, STAGES (Sustainable Theatre Alliance for a Green Environmental Shift) the two-day research within the venue of the CNT in Zagreb will go through several working phases of performative and multimedia artists, workshops and lectures connected with the evacuation protocol. It is our great pleasure that we can realise collaboration with interesting artists through European projects and that we have the opportunity to question significant topics through theatrical processes that deal with sustainability and climate change, said the general manager of the CNT in Zagreb, Iva Hraste Sočo.
On the first day of the Forum on November 20, all visitors will be able to see the following artistic program including performances and artistic installations:

Aleksandra Stojaković Olenjuk and Nataša Antulov: Natural Evacuation
Sara Salamon and Marko-Luka Zubčić: Events on the Edge of the Frame
Maja Marković: A Walk through the Elevated
Group for New Folk Practices: Mouthing of the Earth
Mihael Giba: Sunny with the Possibility of Robbery
Nikolina Rafaj: Terrain in a Fictional Space
Sanja Gergorić and Miodrag Gladović: Leave No One Behind
On November 21, 2023, during the artistic program the visitors will be able to see and participate in the performance Jérôme Bel and Anna Javoran: Jérôme Bel, the Anthropological Game by Senka Božić Vrbančić and in hear the lecture of Tomislav Medak, Vedran Horvat, Tomislav Cik and Mladen Domazet: Doughnut analysis. Set designers are Ana Dana Beroš and Sara Nasić, costume designer is Tina Spahija and lighting designer Bojan Gagić.
STAGES is financed by the EU and is realised in ten European partner theatres including the leading theatre network (European Theatre Convention), while 14 theatre organisations joined stage director Katie Mitchell and choreographer Jérôme Bel – two artists famous for incorporating sustainability in their work. The first phase of the project was completed on June 26, 2022, with performance by Anica Tomić A Play for the Living in the Time of Extinction, while the production concept and direction of the original performance was created by Katie Mitchell together with Jérôme Bel.
