The new CNT season will commence with the ballet concert Life on the StageFrom the theatre — 23. September 2023.
The festive opening of the new theatre season of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb will take place on September 22, at 7.30 p.m. with a unique ballet concert titled Life on the Stage, performed by the Ballet of the CNT in Zagreb in the choreography of Massimiliano Volpini.
Inspired by a special moment in our ballet history, the ballet ensemble will mark a large generational renewal that is occurring right at this moment.
In the new season, besides the carefully selected repertoire in which we shall continue to cherish the diversity of styles, we shall also direct our attention to the ensemble members, the carriers of the program in all the three branches: Drama, Opera and Ballet. Therefore, we shall commence this season with a dedication and gratitude to our ballet artists. While we welcome the new generation of dancers who are entering our ensemble and will thus additionally enable progress of the already high artistic and technically profiled ensemble, at the same time we bid farewell to ballet artists who have finished their dancing careers, said the general manager of the CNT in Zagreb Iva Hraste Sočo.
The Director of the Ballet Massimiliano Volpini who is also the choreographer and director of the ballet concert said that the spectators will be able to see some numbers that are excerpts from famous classical ballet works, while others are especially choreographed for this ballet concert.
We shall tell the story of a dancer's life and allow the audience to see our world in a different, more direct manner. As a special addition we shall show video stories of dancers that have been recorded for this occasion in which the dancers speak about their daily lives, but also about many details that are relevant to the ballet profession and are often hidden from the spectators. This will be a special evening filled with emotions with many entertaining but also sentimental moments and of course a lot of lovely dancing.
In this evening the ensemble will once again show its great potential that will be nurtured and developed in the new theatre season by conquering new challenges and choreographic poetics.
