Livio Badurina's exhibition titled Diary of an Actor

Livio Badurina's exhibition titled Diary of an ActorFrom the theatre — 19. March 2024.

Livio Badurina the drama principal of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb has put on display a video-exhibition titled Diary of an Actor – The Space of Creation and Disappearance that will open in the CNT Foyer on the eve of the World Theatre Day. The exhibition will remain open from March 25 to April 3, 2024, between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The exhibition is the result of Livio Badurina's experimenting with the dynamics and statics during the creative processes, which lasts almost two decades and includes several multimedia works. Five video works containing photographs and videos were recorded by a camera and cell phone during the creative processes of certain performances. The exhibition will show video recordings of Medea by Tomaž Pandur, Oedipus by Eduard Miler, They Shoot Horses Don't They? by Ivica Boban, Kraljevo by Ozren Prohić and We are Kings, not Humans by Matija Ferlin.

This is not his first exhibition. His works were showcased back in 2009 and in 2022, as part of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival and the CNT in Zagreb.

Although a particular theatricality is inherent to a video installation, it is something entirely different from a live performance. In this one which Livio Badurina sets in the darkened CNT foyer, the turbulent layers of emotional memory disjoint the meaning of the word actor. The famous philosopher, author of the book “Thinker on the Stage” began one of his lectures by citing Ciorano's sentence:“Poetry is not imposed, it is displayed” and continued that this sentence is precise primarily because the language of poetry is linked to a gesture that dares to come forward. In Livio Badurina's Diary of an Actor I recognise precisely such a gesture – poetry, explained the historian, theoretician, and curator Leonida Kovač.

Free entrance for all visitors.
