Exhibition Between Fame and Oblivion: Lea DeutschFrom the theatre — 10. May 2024.
The opening of the exhibition titled Between Fame and Oblivion: Lea Deutsch – child prodigy and Holocaust victim will take place on Monday, May 13, 2024, at noon in the Foyer of the CNT in Zagreb.
The exhibition is part of the Festival of History Kliofest.
The general manager of the CNT in Zagreb Dr Iva Hraste Sočo, academician Boris Senker and exhibition authors Dr Damir Agičić and Dr Martina Bitunjac will open the exhibition. The exhibition is based on the monograph written by Martina Bitunjac Lea Deutsch: the child of acting, music and dance on the prominent theatre career and the tragic fate of the most famous Croatian child actress Lea Deutsch (1927-1943). Until the age of 14 she performed in dramas, operas and operettas. Since she was Jewish in 1941, she was expelled from school and theatre and in spring of 1943 she was killed during the transportation to the extermination camp Auschwitz.
The exhibition is open until May 16, 2024.
