Director of Ballet

Massimiliano Volpini, choreographer, stage director, author of various dance and music events and video artist as a dancer collaborated with theatres in Venice, Florence, and Palermo, ballet of the Slovene National Theatre in Ljubljana, ballet ensemble of Arena di Verona and until 2014 he was a soloist of the ballet ensemble of Teatro alla Scala in Milan. He danced leading ballet roles of the classical repertoire and worked with some of the most influential choreographers of the 20th century such as Roland Petit, Rudolf Nureyev, Mats Ek, Maurice Bèjart, Uwe Scholz, etc. He began choreographing in 1995 and since then has created more than one hundred pieces for theatre, television, Opera and musical. His most famous all-evening ballets are Dracula, Peter Pan, Dragon skin, My Name is Nobody, The Nutcracker, Dincanto, etc. Between 1988 and 2010 he co-founded the webportal Balletto.net. In 2000 he commenced a long and fruitful cooperation with Roberto Bolle for whom he created many choreographies performed globally and on television. Together with Bole he began experimenting with new technologies and created:  Prototype, Through the Light, Rencontre, Waves, Mad World, La Cura and Dorian Gray. Since January 2023 he is the director of the ballet of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb.
