Subscribers from Maribor visited opera Don Carlo

Subscribers of the Slovene National Theatre in Maribor visited this season’s last performance of Verdi’s Don Carlo with Boncompagni as conductor and in direction of Derek Gimpel on Saturday, April 22, 2017. This is a joint cooperation of the Slovene National Theatre in Maribor and the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb titled the European subscription. It is a special type of subscription created for the first time this year which includes selected titles of both theatres. Along the 120 Slovene subscribers, the general director of the Slovene National Theatre Danilo Rošker accompanied by several colleagues also visited the performance. The impressions of our guests after the opera were very positive.



The cast for April 22, 2017 is: Luciano Batinić (Philip II), Adela Golac Rilović (Elisabeth), Tomislav Mužek (Don Carlo), Ljubomir Puškarić (Marquis Rodrigo de Posa), Dubravka Šeparović – Mušović (Eboli), Branislav Jatić (Grand Inquisitor), Gorana Biondić Ruško (Thibault), Ozren Bilušić (Old Monk),,Damir Klačar (Royal Herald), Ivana Lazar (A Voice from Heaven), Ivo Gamulin (Conte di Lerma), Antonio Brajković (Coriphaeus), Miha Bole, Marin Čargo, Martin Feller, David Šeb, Ivan Šimatović, Florian Tavić (Envoys).

Dancers: Ervina Sulejmanova, Mirna Sporiš, Andrej Barbanov, Domagoj Vrbljanin

The opera is sung in Italian in the translation and adaptation from French by Angelo Zanardini and Piero Faggioni after Joseph Méry and Camille du Locle.

The audience thrilled with Don Carlo


A party was held after the opening night of Giuseppe Verdi`s Don Carlo, with Elio Boncompagni as conductor and Derek Gimpel as stage director, where numerous artists and cultural workers congratulated the production team and the ensemble of the performance.

Insight into Verdi’s Don Carlo


The traditional programme titled Insight into the Premiere is scheduled for Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. on the stage of the CNT in Zagreb when Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Don Carlo will be presented. The opening night is on April 10, 2017.

The programme moderator is Branimir Pofuk who will talk about the work on the opera with the production team: conductor Eli Boncompagni, stage director Derek Gimpel, set designer Italo Grassi, costume designer Stephan Dietrich and the director of the CNT Opera Nikša Bareza and the CNT general manager Dubravka Vrgoč. The Opera soloists will perform the most attractive arias from Don Carlo along piano accompaniment.
