In the new season 2008/2009, the Ballet of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb will present the premiere of a new piece by the well-known contemporary choreographer Edward Clug titled 4 Reasons. . Although Clug is an artist Zagreb audience remembers by his roles on our stage and by the guest performances of Slovensko narodno gledališče (Tango, Romeo and Juliette), this will be Clug’s first work made especially for our Ballet. As the author of several very successful and popular ballet performances (Amadeus, Solo za dva stola, First Letter & P.S, Crow, Lacrimas, Blind tango, Bachelorette, One) and the associate of Tomaž Pandur in Babilon, Goran Bregović in Palermo, Sebastijan Horvat in Amadeus, Clug is considered one of the most interesting choreographers of contemporary dance expression.Clug is the winner of numerous ballet prizes (in Japan, Serbia, Bulgaria, Russia, Germany, Slovenia) and frequent guest in Slovenia and other countries both as a dancer and as an author of ballet performances. He was proclaimed the best choreographer at several ballet festivals and reviews in Slovenia and abroad.

After graduation at the State Ballet School in the Romanian city of Cluj, Edward Clug was engaged in the ballet ensemble of Slovensko narodno gledališče in Maribor and has been its artistic director from 2003. It is in that ensemble that he has given his best ballet creations and created most of his projects. Thanks to his engagement, Maribor Ballet has become one of the most interesting in this part of Europe.
