Reality – best performance at the 34th Days of Marulić and Nina Violić received the best acting awardFrom the theatre — 30. April 2024.
The best performance award of the 34th Days of Marulić was granted to Reality produced by the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb and directed by Tomislav Šoban. The cast is Nina Violić and Livio Badurina. The Marul award for best acting went to the national drama principal Nina Violić for her role in Reality.
The explanation for the Best performance Award states: The stage movement is sharp, precise and is an inevitable part of the performance both in the visual, as well as in the semantic sense. Lighting, that is in constant communication with the events on the stage, contributes to the dynamics of the performance, while the actors through physical and mental tasks give the spectators an opportunity to witness the embodiment of a truly exceptional artistic stage expression.
Coauthor and dramaturge is Marin Lisjak, costume designer is Gabrijela Krešić, music was composed by Miro Manojlović, Natalija Manojlović worked on stage movement, while lighting design was created by Luka Matić.
From the very beginning our goal was to create and stimulate a venue, along the main stage, for research and experimenting with form and content and to open doors and windows to some new artistic winds. Accordingly, I have invited Nina Violić and Livio Badurina to this journey into the unknown with the idea to create a Beckettish performance for the 21st century and they suggested the film director Tomislav Šoban who had never directed in the theatre. Soon after we have realised that his fascination with the work of physicist Richard Feynman is an unexplored territory for us as well. We thank the jury for the award and everyone else who has recognised this, said Nenni Delmestre, director of the drama of the CNT in Zagreb.
The last performance of Reality in this season will be on May 15, 2024, in the Sound Hall of the CNT in Zagreb.
