Crossing the Line – Triple Bill

Crossing the Line – Triple BillBallet — 13. June 2023.

For the last premiere in this season, the Ballet of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb will prepare a triple bill with three short contemporary ballet works.

Crossing the Line – Triple Bill consists of works of prominent European choreographers of the younger generation: Massimilian Volpini, Philippe Kratz and Francesco Nappa and will premiere on the CNT stage on June 16, 2023.

Three choreographers of different dance poetics will show distinguished paths of dance research, finding connections and touchpoints between the classical and contemporary dance expression, connecting various styles and techniques, clashing them with each other or intersecting them, creating visions without limits or definitions.

The dancers of the Zagreb Ballet, although classically trained have shown many times in the past that they are also masterful in contemporary movement. These new deconstructed dance steps accompanied by acoustic instruments and digital sounds will be a different challenge for them. All the three choreographers who will present themselves to the Zagreb audience for the first time are recipients of many significant international awards and acknowledgements.

Massimiliano Volpini – director of the Ballet of the CNT in Zagreb and a famous Italian dancer and choreographer who since 1995 created a hundred ballet choreographies and choreographies in operas, dramas and musicals.

Philippe Kratz – an awarded German choreographer recently known for his conceptually structured choreographies in which he includes thematic improvisations from the creative process to original music.

Francesco Nappa – an internationally acclaimed Italian dancer, choreographer and polyvalent artist who in his artistic expression connects dance, fine art and music.
