Adventurer at the Door is one of the most famous and one of the best plays by Milan Begović, the classic of Croatian Modernist literature, whose works unite the experience of modernism between the two wars and a true literary talent.Although Begović has not written many dramas, his plays are among the most frequently performed, not only in Croatia but also abroad. Adventurer at the Door had its world premiere on the stage of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb in 1926 and has been on the repertoire of numerous Croatian and foreign theatres ever since. With the interesting dramaturgy among the most modern of the time, anticipating Pirandello, this work plays with the reality and with the worlds which elude rational comprehension. Adventurer at the Door is a true representative of the modernist literature which still fascinates us today with its refined psychological portraying.
The Drama Ensemble of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb will stage this play of the great Croatian writer Milan Begović several decades after the famous world-premiere directed by Branko Gavella. This time it will be directed by the young Tomislav Pavković
