The Wife of Hasan-Agha, a play in verses, written by Milan Ogrizović, served as the basis upon which our actor and director Mustafa Nadarević has written his version of the famous ballad, recorded in 1774, about the tragic destiny of the wife of a Turkish agha. Situated in a timeless frame, our The Wife of Hasan-Agha speaks of the bazaar, Hasan-Agha’s court, his wife’s love and pride, with two times interwoven the present time and the time of Hasan-Agha and connects human destinies through centuries.
The Wife of Hasan-Agha of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb is one of the most frequently performed dramas in the last few seasons, which enchants the audience not only in Zagreb but at numerous guest performances all over Croatia.
