What is a Man without a Moustache, the humoristic novel written by the journalist and novelist Ante Tomić, remains the number one on the reading list since its publishing. The director Aida Bukvić thought it was the time to put the hilariously funny characters of the novel on the stage. Tomić’s characters are inhabitants of Smiljevo, a village with the population of 2000, and their everyday lives abound with dramatic situations. The plot revolves around two love stories, with the picturesque characters and funny dialogues. The novel hides a full-blooded comedy, just as Tomić’s mockery of the village mentality hides a lot of love, because it is the only way to reach the readers and the reason for which it was easy for the actors to make the novel’s characters persuasive on the stage.
