Variations in f.ado minor, choreographed by Hugo Viera, will bring the traditional Portuguese fado back on the ballet stage in Zagreb. Hugo Viera, Portuguese dancer and choreographer of younger generation, has already registered his name amongthe most interesting contemporary European choreographers.
In the last fifteen years, he has created a dozen ballets for different ballet stages, and each of them has in its own way intrigued the audience and the experts who largly praise his impressive choreographies, full of coloring and imaginative movement, in perfect harmony with the music. Taking Portuguese fado (or fadinho) as the music thread, Hugo Viera has reached for the themes ingrained in the soul of the Portuguese people, such as love, passion, mysticism, pain, sorrow, which were celebrated in the verses of some of the best Portuguese poets. In the show, we will be using the recordings of the interpretations of the famous fado singers.
