Adapting Léo Delibes‘s famous French ballet Coppélia, which marked a new era in the history of ballet art, the renowned Hungarian choreographer Youri Vàmos has created a ballet entitled Coppélia on Montmartre. Using the inspiring music score and the basic story of the classic French ballet, he has shaped the space of the contemporary dance musical as an homage to Montmartre, the legendary meeting place of Parisian bohemians from the time of la belle epoque. In the imaginative and richly choreographed atmosphere of the dissipated can-can and the picturesque Parisian streets, with the desire to deepen the story about two young people in love and the solitary painter Coppélius, the author has created a joyous atmosphere of a comical ballet and animated the ensemble with a lively, witty and dynamic play. The climax of the show is the scene in Moulin Rouge, in which the liberated energy of the numerous ensemble encourages the audience to overjoyed chanting in the rhythm of cancan at every performance without an exception.
