The Ballet Evening consists of three short contemporary ballets of three different choreographers: Vasco Wellenkamp, Nacho Duato and Leo Mujić.
Leo Mujić is a young choreographer who is reaping success on European stages and this was the first time that he presented himself as an author with a simple ballet story Go and See. On the ingenious music by Johann Sebastian Bach, he created a performance of contemporary dance expression which leaves abundant space for imagination.
Na floresta of the world-famous choreographer Nacho Duato is the first choreography of that author staged in Ballet Zagreb.
This ballet piece is imbued with a passionate energy in every scene.
Drawing from the Brasilian folklore, the music of Heitor Villa-Lobos glorifies the beauty of the Amazon forest which becomes almost palpable in Duato’s interpretation.
Vasco Wellenkamp is well known to Zagreb audience by the unforgettable and award-winning ballet Ballads...brought by the wind... Sinfonia da Requiem is inspired by the homonymous music by Benjamin Britten.
Revealing the throbbing rhythms and emotions of complete loneliness in the music it draws from, the show reflects human pain, fear, compassion and hope in eternal love.
